Itinerary

Day 1: ARRIVAL IN LAKE BLED

Bled, situated on the shore of a beautiful glacial lake with its distinctive church on an island set against a backdrop of towering alpine mountains, all guarded by the imposing clifftop castle, is one of Slovenia’s most popular tourist attractions. Spend your first day visiting the island church and its ornate golden altar, ring the legendary church bell and make a wish; it might come true. Then head over to the western side and hike up to Mala Osojnica for the best view of all.

Day 2: BLED - ST KATARINA - RADOVLJICA - BLED (↔ 42 km, ↑↓ 530 m)

Today's bike ride will guide you through the picturesque Vintgar Gorge, following the swift currents of the Radovna River as it carves through mountainous terrains and culminates in the Šum Waterfall. Ascend to the day's peak at Saint Katarina Church, situated at 630 meters above sea level, and relish a unique perspective of Bled Castle from the parking area. Treat yourself to lunch in the charming historic center of Radovljica, where you can explore its intriguing beekeeping museum, admire the ornate frescoes on the ceiling of Saint Peter's Church, and indulge in some delightful gelato.

Day 3: BLED - POKLJUKA - BOHINJ (↔ 69 km, ↑↓ 1.550 m)

Start your day with an ascent to the elevated Pokljuka plateau. If you prefer, arrange a transfer to whisk you to the summit (have to be done in advance). From there, bike your way down to the Bohinj Valley, weaving through quaint alpine villages and passing distinctive Slovene hay racks. Your journey culminates at Lake Bohinj, a mesmerizing lake ensconced within the alpine valley and framed by the towering Julian Alps.

Day 4: BLED – ST PETER - KAMNA GORICA – BLED (↔ 48 km, ↑↓ 880 m)

Today's journey takes you to the residence of the iconic Slovenian folk artist, Slavko Avsenik, located in the radiant village of Begunje. Savor a meal at Avsenik Gostilna, his namesake restaurant, all while being captivated by the majestic Karavanke Mountains in the distance. Post-lunch, explore the museum of hostages and the remnants of Kamen Castle. Conclude your day with a scenic route back to Bled, passing through the historic village of Kamna Gorica.

Day 5: BLED - JELOVICA HIGH PLATEAU (↔ 44 km, ↑↓ 970 m)

Today's adventure leads you to the lush pine-laden expanse of the Jelovica Plateau, nestled to the south of Bled. Your path ascends parallel to the flowing Sava River. We suggest a midday stop at the Talež mountain hut for a meal, where you can enjoy an unparalleled panorama of the Karavanke mountain range. As the afternoon unfolds, a tranquil journey along serene forest roads will guide you back to the heart of Bled.

TOUR E: BLED – SLAMNIKI (↔ 40 km, ↑↓ 1.250 m)

Today, venture towards the lesser-known Pokljuka Gorge, a natural marvel formed 10,000 years ago on the plateau's eastern fringe. Once there, park your bike and immerse yourself in a walk amidst age-old forests, exploring the fossilized remnants of a ravine, a testament to a bygone glacier's retreat.

Day 7: DEPARTURE

After breakfast your tour ends or you can prolong your stay or continue cycling. There are two tours starting from Bled: Lakes & Cities and Best Of Slovenia.
