Self Guided Cycling Tours

Collection of easy tours suitable for all cyclists. Central starting point allows daily decision on which tour is to be done.

Daily programme:

Day 1: arrival in LAKE Bled.
& Your chosen hotel is in the town centre. Bled is known for it’s beautiful setting, lake, castle on the rock above the lake and a pilgrimage church on the island.

C We liked: the cream cake „Kremšnita“ – treat yourself on a sunny day on the terrace of Park Hotel.

 

TOUR A: Bled - sightseeing (15 km).
b Introductory cycling tour is flat and goes around Lake Bled

& Island with Virgin Mary church (visit it by a boat, rown by local strong men or hire your own boat) and castle set on a 100 m rock above the town.
C We liked: the „all-wishes-fulfilling“ bell in the island church.

 

TOUR B: Bled – Bodešce – Kropa - Bled (33 km).
b Days' biking tour goes alongside Jelovica high plateau and Sava River, easy, some undemanding hills.
&  Old smithies' village of Kropa with a museum, beekeeping museum in Radovljica. Take your lunch in an old fashioned restaurant next to the castle in Radovljica.

 

TOUR C: Bled – Begunje – Radovljica - Bled(43 km).
b Easy route, completely flat.
C We liked: Begunje-hometown of the famous Slavko Avsenik / Oberkrainer band, WW2 museum and ruins of Kamen castle. Vrba - the birthplace of many Slovenian poets and writers.
 

TOUR D: Bled-Gorje (19 km).
b Cycling one gradual climb of 150 m.
C We liked: Pokljuka canyon - walk through a very old forest, Vintgar gorge - 1,6 km long canyon of the Radovna river. We recommend a trout lunch in the restaurant at the entrance to the gorge.

 

TOUR E: Bled-Bohinj (44 km).
b Car transfer to the top of Pokljuka high plateau, then cycling 20 km downhill and alongside Sava Bohinjka river.

& Great scenery of alpine villages, hayracks and tasty food in local village inns.
C We liked: Lake Bohinj, the Savica waterfall, cable car ride up Mount Vogel, Triglav National park and quiet Alpine villages.

 

TOUR F: BLED -KRMA VALLEY (36 km).
b Cycling first through the Radovna valley to the foot of Mount Triglav, lightly climbing. Triglav National Park, very peaceful area.
C We liked: stunning mountain scenery on the end of the Krma valley, lunch in the mountain hut. The valley is a peaceful area of deep woods, touching monuments from WW2 and old farmhouses; one has been adapted into a museum, even visited even by prince Charles!

 

Day 8: departure from Lake Bled.

A connection cycling -trip from Lake Bled to Ljubljana is available.

 

Price per person per week:

Type A: Accommodation in 3* hotel town centre / standard room: 520 EUR

Type B: Accommodation in 4* hotel town centre: park side room 640 EUR; lakeside room 710 EUR

 

Price includes:

Accommodation in hotels of choice in two bedded room with WC and shower, on basis of bed & breakfast.

Information package including detailed route description.

Welcome drink and visit of Helia representative on the arrival evening.

 

Supplements:

Half board supplement 105 EUR in 3* hotel, 140 EUR in 4* hotel.

Single supplement 120 EUR in 3* hotel, 420 EUR in 4* hotel.

Bike hire 75 EUR per week (touring bikes are equipped with a lock, pannier and a basic repair set. Price includes delivery and pick up).

Every additional day: 12 EUR per bike. Bike rental period starts on day 2 of the tour and ends on the evening of day 7 Helmet rental 2 EUR per day.

Discounts:

Children up to 12 years when sharing room with parents: 30%.

Third adult person on an extra bed (sharing) in a double room: -10% on the basic price.

 

Not included:
Entrance fees.

There is free but unguarded parking lot in Bled.

Bike insurance: bikes are insured against minor breaks and normal wear (up to a damage of 10 EUR). They are not insured against theft or frame break. Insurance is available against these events at the rate of 2 EUR per bike per day.
